Haymarket is set to shine as Market City transforms into a vibrant hub of colour, culture and celebration for the annual Moon Festival.

This family-friendly event offers six weeks of exciting performances, activities, and delicious food traditions.

The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is one of the most important celebrations in Asia—a time for gratitude, unity, and sharing mooncakes under the full moon.

Market City honours this tradition with a series of cultural experiences, including Chinese art workshops, live performances, and Australia’s largest mooncake sale, proudly hosted by Thai Kee IGA.

October Long Weekend Festivities

The festival’s showstopper comes across the October long weekend (4–6 October) with the spectacular High Pole Lion Dance at 2 pm daily. Performed by the world-renowned Jin Wu Koon troupe, this awe-inspiring display sees acrobats leaping across poles three metres high in a breathtaking mix of skill, tradition and athleticism.
