Set in one of Sydney’s most dynamic precincts, Art in the Heart of Haymarket is a new festival that will celebrate Asian arts and culture through a pulsating program of new music, performance, and visual art.
Presented by 4A throughout October, AHOH platforms some of the brightest Asian voices today through a transformative program that explore the creative beat of Chinatown and Haymarket.
4A Kids: Creating Comics with Meg O’Shea
Take a lesson in contemporary cosmic books from Ignatz award-nominated artist Meg O'Shea in this 90-minute workshop. Learn visual storytelling techniques and you'll be take step by step how to write and draw a comic taken from your own personal experiences.
All materials will be provided along with complimentary refreshments.

Dance Battle with Destructive Steps Dance Association
4A host its first Dance Battle with Destructive Steps Dance Association (DSDA). Dancer’s Lane near Haymarket is home to vibrant street dance communities and the 4A Dance Battle will create a platform for emerging dancers to showcase their craft to residents and visitors in the precinct. The Dance Battle will showcase Bboy/bgirl (Breaking), Popping and other street dance styles. Contestants will battle it out in a 2 versus 2 open battle vying for cash prizes before a live audience.

Art in the Heart of Haymarket will wrap-up with a 24-hour program.
This inaugural event begins with a bang with electro-bhangra dance by the Bindi Bosses. 4A and MOCA will come alive with surreal old library rooms animated with intimate bespoke one-on-one performances, an interactive tea ceremony, street food speed dates and dance by Destructive Steps Street dance community. Sunday will begin with yoga, meditation and chai as the sun streams into 4A’s gallery space with film screenings and more intimate bespoke one-on-one performances.
