Winter is well and truly here at The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre. Time to ease the cold snap by curling up at the fireplace (or heater) with a hot cup of tea. The chilly days are not all that bleak though - we've got school holidays jam-packed with great children’s theatre, comedy music, dance and more!

Sydney Dance Company Winter Holiday Workshops
Elementary (8 – 11) Monday 15 & Tuesday 16 July 10am – 4pm
Advanced (12 – 16) Thursday 18 & Friday 19 July 10am – 4pm
Contemporary, Lyrical, JFH and Theatre Jazz

Over two fun filled and challenging days, explore four dynamic dance styles. Each session will explore an intensive warm up moving on to learn an original routine taught by our expert dance teachers. Enhance flexibility and movement in a Lyrical class as you learn about expressive movement.

Appreciate Contemporary dance and its unique approach to movement and individuality. Learn choreography similar to those seen in popular dance videos in a JFH (Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop) class. Then showcase your performance skills in a Theatre Jazz class as you learn a routine from musical theatre.
Cost: $175 for both. Note: There are two workshops for each age group, there is no 1-day option
Enrolment & Registration: Parents will need to complete the Enrolment Form for their participant on the first morning of their young artist’s SDC workshop

Ages 8 – 12: Tuesday 16 July 11:30am & 1:30pm

  • Maintaining a beat
  • Sequencing and pattern-making
  • Developing aural memory, kinaesthetic awareness and physical coordination
  • Working together with others

The Taikoz members and associates who lead our workshops are all highly trained performers and teachers. Since 1997, Taikoz has developed an international reputation for vibrant performances that couple explosive energy and extreme dynamism with refinement and grace.
Enrolment & Registration: Parents will need to complete the Enrolment Form for their participant on the first morning of their young artist’s Taikoz workshop.
