Sydney kids & families will love Nerd Alert at the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah this October & November! This is hands-on science for curious kids who like to make things, experiment, use gadgets and find out cool stuff. Lead by the garden's fun and knowledgable Garden Science Educator, wand toegther discover WHY stuff happens, WHAT makes things the way they are and HOW things work!

You'll make fun gadgets, mix up chemical compounds, build and test models, investigate with scientific equipment and experiment with super-cool science! Every month the program will explore a new theme with a mini science-show and lots of making and experimenting for everyone to get involved, with all the tools, equipment and ingredients provided. Recommended for children 8 years and over and their parents or carers.

Propellers and Parachutes: In October, let's experiment with things that fly - aerofoils and wind resistance! We'll test out paper helicopters and make our own flying sardine. We'll also look around the garden to see how seeds use flight before replicating this with our own origami sycamore seed.
