Forget Cash! Pay With Steps For Food At This Pop-Up Cafe

In a world where Fitbits, Apple Watches and other tech-y gadgets can calculate everything from your heart rate to your sleep habits and the amount you move, we’ve never been more aware of the amount of steps we take per day (or lack thereof.)
What if we told you that there's a pop-up cafe in Chippendale, that’s initiated a food-for-steps experiment; whereby you exchange your steps for items on the menu? Yup, no cash or card required here—just a robust step count!
From August the 28th until August the 30th, 8am-2.30pm, the Energy Exchange Cafe within Chippendale’s Concrete Jungle will be dishing out free food, alongside a free coffee with every meal.
Expect the menu to be quite oats-heavy as the pop-up is a collaboration between Uncle Toby’s and Tim Robards (‘wellness educator’ and Australia’s original Bachelor—how’s that for a bit of trivia!). The menu ‘prices’ range from 3000 to 10,000 steps—so make sure you’ve had an active morning! You can also ‘pledge’ an energy donation for the steps you intend to take that day if you’re more of a post-breakfast exerciser.
Happy steppin', friends!
