Summer is nearly here and to celebrate the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan has released its 2019 Summer What’s On calendar featuring over 20 great events and activities for kids and adults alike to enjoy.

This year the Garden is celebrating Christmas with a special themed Christmas Markets on Sunday 15 December, (2.00 to 9.00 pm). The Garden’s monthly Eat Shop Love Markets will be themed all things Christmas and offer roaming carollers, Santa photo booth, kids’ activities, Christmas crafts and more for the community to enjoy.

Kids can also get into the festive spirit with Santa’s Studio, a new two-hour creative Christmas gift making event. They will be introduced to a range of art mediums and natural material to make a series of works parents and grandparents will love!

During the school holidays book the kids into something new. The Aboriginal Weaving Class (15 January) and Aboriginal Art Class for Children are hands-on, educational and lots of fun. They also teach kids skills that have been part of the Aboriginal culture for thousands of years.

For nature loving kids, Seedlings Nature School returns (4 December and 21 January) and Kids Vs Wild Water Fun (13 January) are our top picks.

If your family loves outdoor theatre, don’t miss A Jolly Swagman’s Tale Holiday Theatre (20 January), the Australian Wildlife Show and a Teddy’s Bear Picnic are great options to get the family outdoors together.

Kids don’t get all the fun though. Yoga in the Garden returns this season and adults can find their inner peace in the Garden on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturday mornings. Glenn Smith is an award-winning local photographer and his popular Beginners Photography class (9 February) is ideal for anyone who has a camera and wants to get beyond using the auto setting.
