Bush Balance - Term 2 Program
- Fri Apr 29 - Sat Jul 16 2022
- From: $25.00
What is Bush Balance?
Bush Balance is an outdoors, all weather playgroup for young children and their carers aged 0-12
Bush Balance provides children freedom and time to explore their environment.
Each week we offer play opportunities to children such as painting, tools, buckets, magnifying glasses, ropes and books. Children may choose to use these things or start their own games or explorations. At Bush Balance we allow children's natural curiosity and questions to guide our learning.
Time spent in nature enhances our wellbeing and can reduce anxiety. There is so much to explore, observe and experience.
When and Where?
Bush Balance meets in the morning on Mondays through to Saturdays for 1.5 hour sessions.
We have three different locations:
- Cumberland State Forest, West Pennant Hills
- Sydney Park, Alexandria
- Wolli Creek Regional Park, Earlwood.
All of our groups run for an 8 week term except for our new school holiday sessions which are one-off sessions and Saturdays which we will run for 4 week blocks.
Who runs Bush Balance?
Bush Balance is run by Deborah Wood, an Early Childhood Teacher with 14 years experience.
Deborah's work in long day care centres, preschools, primary age and as a private nanny has convinced her of the need for children to have outdoor play.
Deborah has been influenced by reading Richard Louv’s ‘Last child in the woods’ and Angela Hanscom’s ‘Balanced and Barefoot’ – concluding outdoor play is not just beneficial but necessary for children’s physical, social and emotional development.
