Beat the Bottle is a free family-friendly music event and clean-up initiative at Parramatta River Foreshore, on Sunday, 22 July. The event encourages local communities to tackle plastic waste in our waterways and reduce single-use plastic.

The event is free to attend, with a live performance by Purple Sneakers, and Junkyard Beats will be putting on a music workshop that kids will love to get involved in.

All event goers can expect to chow down on a sausage sizzle and receive a free stainless steel reusable water bottle.

Additionally, there will also be an interactive workshop from Junkyard Beats, teaching attendees how to play the ‘Come Clean’ track by Jayteehazard and Chaos Emerald from Haiku Hands, with recycled instruments on the day.

Following the success of the pilot Beat the Bottle events in Manly and Wollongong earlier this year, Sydney Water hopes the Parramatta event will bring greater awareness to the issue in Western Sydney. The first series saw a total rubbish collection of 350kgs and over 350 participants.

Let's get drastic on plastic!
