Autumn School Holidays at the Maritime Museum

Take a trip to the wilderness in the heart of the Darling Harbour these school holidays. Experience the wondrous world of Wild & Ice at the Maritime Museum.

A hands-on, activity-filled program inspired by the breathtaking beauty of our natural world. Be amazed by the astonishing animals captured on camera in award-winning exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year before exploring the extraordinary environments of the north pole in Arctic Voices. Both exhibitions will fascinate families and inspire conversations around the diversity and changing nature of ecosystems.

Make it full day of fun by diving to the depths of the ocean with immersive 3D film Oceans, from the producers of BBC’s Blue Planet II. The film takes you on a journey from coastal shallows and coral reefs to deep ocean trenches and uncovers the mysteries of the largest and least-explored habitat on earth. Continue your day of discovery with spectacular science demonstrations on show in the Stowaway Critters Circus, running twice daily (except Saturdays).

The stalwart favourite Kids on Deck will be open to those keen to craft polar animal puppets, make printed wild tote bags or climb inside a giant inflatable igloo. You can also hop down the hatch of submarine HMAS Onslow or take a twilight torchlight tour on board tall ship HMB Endeavour.

Kids aged 8-14 have a chance to rock the boat with a creative two-day workshop on producing and choreographing epic music videos. All the school holiday fun starts with the free Classic & Wooden Boat Festival, featuring beautiful vessels, markets, live music, face-painting and a jumping castle. Kids will be enchanted by a bubble artist, can challenge their friends in a rope throwing competition, enjoy a nautical magic show, learn how to hula-hoop or create and play in the Kids’ Boat Shed. The Classic & Wooden Boat Festival runs from Friday 13 – Sunday 15 April, followed by the Wild & Ice school holiday program, running from Monday 16 – Monday 30 April.
