Ancient Builders: Clay Sculpting Workshop

Learn about ancient clay-building techniques and make your own miniature house in these hands-on school holiday workshops for children aged 5 – 8 and 9 – 13.

We’re all familiar with LEGO® bricks, but did you know that the oldest building blocks were made approximately 10,000 years ago? Unlike the colourful bricks we play with today, these early building materials used to create entire cities were made from mud and clay. In fact, some of these structures, like the 5000-year-old city of Shibam, are still standing today!

In this hands-on school holiday workshop, children aged 5 – 8 and 9 – 13 will learn and apply clay sculpting and colouring techniques to make their own structurally-sound miniature house. Watch as tiny homes are created and entire cities come to life through a combination of knowledge, imagination, and hands-on creativity.

These creative workshops are run by Tamara Gulic Phoenix, Founder and Managing Director of Creative Ark.
