Get ready to ogle at a real-life replica of the moon in all its luminescent glory. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, The Powerhouse Museum is catapulting onlookers to the moon and back with its extraordinary display of virtual reality.

Museum Of The Moon is a touring artwork by UK-based artist Luke Jerram. His awe-inspiring recreation of the moon is seven metres in diameter and features impressive renderings of the celestial body's surface as captured by NASA imagery. BAFTA Award-winning sound designer Dan Jones's accompanying soundscape adds even more ethereal depth to the floating display.

Jerram's spherical sculpture has been orbiting the art world since 2016 and has now landed at Sydney's Powerhouse Museum and is part of Apollo 11, a 200-item exhibition celebrating the famous moon landing in 1969.
