Garden Wonder Wander

A great self-guided trail to do with the whole family. Can you find the five trail stops? Follow the map to explore the Garden and enjoy fun hands-on activities.  Learn about some weird and amazing plants, then answer the quiz questions to solve the puzzle and win a prize!

Winter Bird Walk with Carol Probets

Join birding guide Carol Probets on a morning walk to see some of the Garden’s beautiful birds and learn about their habits. Winter is a time of nectar abundance, with many honeyeaters attracted to the Garden’s collection of Proteaceae, while small birds can be easy to spot as they move into the open habitats. Get some tips from Carol on how to use binoculars and identify birds. Suitable for beginners or those who have already done some birding.

Ned Kelly & The Gang

Could you survive as a bushranger?  Join some of Australia’s notorious and dangerous bushrangers and the people in their lives in this interactive performance looking at how they survived in the wild Australian environment while on the run from the law. Come on a trek with some of our most infamous bushrangers as they take you on a moving adventure to tell their tales

Nerd Alert - Science On The Mountain

Hands-on science for curious kids who like to make things, experiment, use gadgets and find out cool stuff. Lead by our fun and knowledgeable Garden Science Educator, we'll discover WHY stuff happens, WHAT makes things the way they are and HOW things work!

Monday 8 July: Chemistry in the Gardens - Become a horticulturalist for the day! Test for pH and do all sorts of other soil testing just like a horticulturalist does. 

Thursday 11 July: Mossy Monsters - Take a walk in the Jungle to discover hidden mysteries both weird plants and wacky animals and learn Kokodama-making to create a mini plant monster to take home.

Friday 12 July: Flying Things - Discover the tricks of aerodynamics and create all sorts of flying things in this hands-on making session. Plus watch them fly high over the blue mountains!

Gondwana Garden Family Day

Take a trip through time to the ancient land of Gondwana for a fantastic family day of hands-on science fun at the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden! Enjoy interactive chats with Botanists from the Herbarium, Hunt for Australian Virtual Reality dinosaurs and megafauna in the Garden, watch reptile & dinosaur shows and learn about furry animals, frogs & tadpoles.
