Storytime Ballet: Cinderella
Dust off the tutu and get ready to dance in your seat, because Storytime Ballet: Cinderella brings The Australian Ballet to the Comedy Theatre for four days this January in a 55-minute version made especially for children aged three and up!
What to Expect at Storytime Ballet: Cinderella
David McAllister, a former Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet, choreographed this version to Prokofiev's score. The wicked stepsisters torment Cinderella, the fairy godmother sweeps in, and the transformation delivers a glittering ball gown and a pair of glass slippers to a theatre full of gasping four-year-olds. It runs 55 minutes straight through with no interval.
Come in costume! The company actively invites children to dress up in their favourite ballet outfit and dance along from their seats.
Infants under two sit free on an adult's lap, so if you have a baby in tow you only pay for the older child. Sessions run at 11 am, 2 pm and 4 pm across the four days (the 11 am suits the under-fours best), and the Auslan interpreted performances are on Friday 22 January at 2 pm and 4 pm. Book early, because Storytime Ballet drew close to 39,000 people last season, and the school holiday sessions sell out first.
