Songbirds at City Library
Settle your newborn into your lap for Songbirds, a free weekly session of songs, rhymes and stories at City Library in Melbourne's CBD.
Songbirds is a 30-minute session for babies from newborn to 18 months and their carers. Songs, rhymes and stories give a baby their first lessons in the rhythm of language!
What to Expect at Songbirds
Songbirds runs on Fridays from 10.30 am to 11 am, and walk-ins without bookings are most welcome. Parents can sing along too, and nobody at a baby session has ever graded a parent on their pitch!
The sessions are short to suit babies, and every minute goes to songs, rhymes, and stories, with nothing to set up or pack away.
Good to Know
Songbirds follows the school terms, and the Term 4 sessions fall on Fridays from 9 October to 11 December 2026. Entry is FREE. You can plan a weekly outing around it, because the same time and place repeat every Friday of the term!
