Playbound Takes Over Melbourne For The Winter School Holidays

Some of Melbourne’s much-loved and iconic arts and culture venues, including Melbourne Museum, State Library of Victoria, ACCA, The Wheeler Centre and more, are keeping curious kids entertained this winter school holidays with an exciting program of interactive events and screen-free play. 

Playbound is Melbourne’s city-wide children’s festival, serving up 16 days of family fun designed for little creatives to engage with a vibrant mix of performances, workshops, exhibitions, crafts and hands-on activities.

Discover a world of creativity and adventure at the Playbound children’s festival and dive into play-based learning with activities that inspire curiosity, connection and endless fun. 

Designed for children aged 0 – 12 and their families, the Playbound will bring the school holidays to life with a bumper schedule of free and affordable activities that explore nature, science, play, and imagination. 

Playbound Festival celebrates the power of play and invites children to explore the world through joyful, interactive experiences that ignite curiosity, wonder, and meaningful moments of connection. The program weaves art, creativity, music, storytelling, culture, community and sensory exploration into experiences the whole family can enjoy.

The family-friendly activities across the city include:

• Uncover the wild world of bugs through colour and play at Creative Lab: Bug Out
• It's Dino Day for little ones every Wednesday at Melbourne Museum
• Create a tiny, colourful nature world of your own at Little Landscapes
• Join illustrator and author, Anna Walker, for a Story House Workshop
• Experience the magic of live music with Bila’s Big Dance: A Musical Storytime
• Unlock brick-building secrets at LEGO^® Star Wars Brickman Masterclasses
• Join a bestselling children’s author for the Crafty Kids’ Lab with Yuval Zommer
• Celebrate the magic of the wizarding world at Harry Potter Day

Plus, there are Teddy Bears Picnics, Tiny Tours, magical storytimes, a range of crafting sessions and a whole lot more activities and events designed to inspire little imaginations and spark lifelong learning.
