Celebrate 25 Years of Harry Potter Magic in Melbourne

Families who grew up with the magic of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone can now share the experience with a whole new generation. This year, the beloved film is celebrating 25 years since it first enchanted audiences, with immersive experiences, themed dining, limited-edition merchandise and live wizarding events across Melbourne, including a magical takeover at Chadstone Shopping Centre.

Dust off your robes and practise your spellwork - the wizarding world is celebrating a major milestone. Twenty-five years after Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone first cast its spell in cinemas, the magic is returning in 2026 with a series of enchanting family experiences.

To mark this special anniversary, a program of experiences, retail collaborations and live events is bringing the wizarding world back into the spotlight, with immersive installations, themed treats, exclusive merchandise and plenty of spellbinding surprises for young witches, wizards and curious Muggles.

A Magical Takeover at Chadstone

The centrepiece of the Melbourne celebrations is a spectacular Harry Potter 25th Anniversary takeover at Chadstone Shopping Centre from 4 – 26 April, when the Southern Hemisphere’s largest retail and lifestyle destination will transform into an immersive wizarding world experience.

Three major activation zones will pop up across the centre, featuring magical installations including the iconic Grand Staircase, the enchanting Grand Hall and a Hogwarts Express train display. Families can wander through themed zones, explore interactive experiences and soak up the atmosphere.

The Chadstone takeover will feature more immersive fan experiences, including:

• A Harry Potter high tea experience at the luxurious Hotel Chadstone
• A takeover of the LEGO® Discovery Centre from 2 - 27 April
• Starbucks is selling a brand-new, limited-edition Harry Potter merchandise range
• A dedicated Harry Potter store takeover at EB Games during the activation period

New Harry Potter Merchandise Across Australia

Retail launches will roll out nationwide, giving families plenty of ways to celebrate at home. Fans can discover new Harry Potter product ranges at EB Games and Zing Pop Culture, along with themed collections from LEGO, Kmart Australia and more.

There will also be special collectible releases marking the milestone, including limited-edition silver and gold foils featuring iconic characters and magical artefacts.

Even everyday routines are getting a wizarding makeover, with a themed oral care range from Colgate designed to help young witches and wizards build healthy brushing habits.

Wizarding Experiences Touring Australia

The celebrations continue throughout the year with live concerts that bring the Harry Potter Film Concert Series to life on stage. These spectacular performances combine live orchestras with screenings of the films, creating a powerful cinematic experience for families and fans. 

Twenty-five years on, the magic of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone still holds strong. The anniversary celebrations are a chance for longtime fans to revisit the story that started it all - and for a new generation to discover the wonder of Hogwarts for the first time.
