Halloween at the Museum: A Night Of Spooky Family Fun in Melbourne

If you thought museums were quiet after dark, think again! Melbourne Museum is throwing open its weird and wonderful collections for Halloween at the Museum, and this year’s celebration is bigger, spookier and more fang-tastic than ever.

From creepy campfire tales to dance floors for mini monsters to adults-only chills, this is Melbourne's must-do Halloween dress-up party for the whole family.

Melbourne Museum is transforming into a full-blown Halloween wonderland that will thrill ghosts and ghouls of all ages, from trick-or-treat adventures through the galleries to eerie after-hours adults-only entertainment.

Halloween Fun for Families

Little monsters, this one’s for you! Dance like a ghoul at the Kids Monster Halloween Disco, brave the Snake Pit, or creep through the Frog Fog Garden to spot hidden skeletons.

Join Campfire Tales for ghostly storytelling, get your face painted by wicked witches, and collect sweet surprises on the Trick or Treat Trail. For something a little slimier, don’t miss the Spooky Science stage with hair-raising tricks. And if you dare, crawl through The Spider’s Nest or learn about the creepy crawlies at Mysterious Minibeasts and Fangs, Frogs and Frights.

Families can also explore after-hours exhibits, including Our Wondrous Planet, Treasures of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard, and the Bone Zone in the Science & Life Gallery.

And for those who love a fright with a beat, DJ Blackscale will be spinning spooky dance floor bangers late into the night.

For Grown-Up Ghouls

Sip a cocktail in the Candlelight Bar, snack on “bloody” popcorn, and sink into a movie marathon in the Adults-Only Zone. Visit The Spell Box to have your palm read, draw a tarot card, or dive into the mystical world of witchcraft and folklore.
