Echuca Moama Lights Festival
- Sat May 08 - Sat May 22 2021
The mighty Murray River will be aglow with light and colour for the first time as the historic twin towns of Echuca in Victoria and Moama, across the water in NSW, launch a new festival this May.
The inaugural Moama Lights festival is a three-week celebration centered around an immersive, illuminated trail that tells the story of the Echuca Moama region with captivating installations, starting at the underside of the Echuca Moama bridge, highlighting the natural beauty of Horseshoe Lagoon and finishing at the Murray, Australia's longest river.
Moama Lights will feature three distinct acts - indigenous culture, riverboat heritage and present-day life - as you journey through a field of thousands of illuminated native flowers, an ever-changing display of spectacular hues, twinkling starlight and local art including the work of 100 local students that have been woven into a dazzling lighting display, depicting what Echuca Moama means to them.
Every night from 8 to 22 May 2021 under a canopy of light, you can meander along the path of river red gums, as theatrical fog rises from below the boardwalks and you are mesmerised by light and sound. The 600m trail will take at least 30 minutes to complete.
Moama Lights is a FREE ticketed family event.
