Diwali at the Immigration Museum

Make rangoli, get a henna tattoo and join a dance cypher on Saturday 7 November, when Diwali at the Immigration Museum fills the day from 11 am to 4 pm!

Diwali at the Immigration Museum is a one-day festival of free and low-cost activities for all ages.

What to Expect at Diwali at the Immigration Museum

The Indian embroidery workshops are ticketed at $10 to $15. Visitors can add their own embroidery or drawing to the collaborative 10-metre textile artwork, which gives a child who has never held a needle a way to join in alongside the grown-ups who are doing the stitching (10 metres is a lot of cloth to fill).

The dance cypher blends contemporary and traditional dance, so it is the spot to find if your child likes to move. Visitors can create vibrant rangoli designs or get a henna tattoo. Traditional games and activities run throughout the day, and your child can wander from one table to the next at their own pace!
