A Christmas Carol Comes to Melbourne

Bah-humbug be gone because we're calling all Christmas fanatics. You're going to love this one!

A brand new adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens' story, 'A Christmas Carol' will capture the spirit of the holiday season.

In a sparkling reimagining of this timeless story, Ebenezer Scrooge, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, along with Tiny Tim and the Cratchit Family, will all be transported to contemporary Melbourne.

And, if retelling one of our most beloved Christmas stories isn't enough to get you feeling festive, the passion put into the production by artists who bring it to life will.

Composer Graeme Koehne (Tivoli Dances) and librettist Anna Goldsworthy (The Magic Pudding – The Opera) have adapted Dickens' story into a new Australian opera everyone will love. With Koehne's flair for lastingly memorable melodies alongside Goldsworthy's gift for storytelling, it will warm even the most Ebenezer Scrooge-iest of us. 

Melbourne Opera invites all Melburnians to come together as a united community to celebrate the festive spirit and discover opera's magic - an invitation we would like to accept!
