Why We Love BIG4 Whiters Holiday Village

If you want a beach holiday that isn’t too far, with lots of things to do then Lakes Entrance is the place - and who doesn’t love a Big4 resort when you’re travelling with kids!

Where To Find It

Lakes Entrance is a great holiday spot about four hours from Melbourne situated on the edge of Ninety Mile Beach where the Gippsland Lakes meets the Southern Ocean. There is fishing, boating, skiing if you like being on the water or you could take a swim or walk along Ninety Mile Beach. There are a lot of shops and supermarkets where you can easily get things to stock in your cabin fridge.

Being set on the Gippsland Lakes means there are a lot of tours to do which the office staff are very happy to help you book and offer suggestions. We were lucky enough to take the Lonsdale Eco-cruise and see dolphins and seals along with the local black swans and kangaroos (we had very happy children). Whiters Big4 is located just off the main road; it is walking distance to the beach area but with little kids a car ride is only 1 or 2 minutes.

Cosy Cabins

We stayed in a 2-bedroom villa which had a double bed in one room and 2 singles in the other. The cabin was very clean and towels were replaced if you exchanged them at the front office. The kitchen was user friendly and all cutlery and crockery were new. Our television wasn’t working on arrival but was quickly replaced without any issues.

Highlights Of The Park

We went with 3 other families and the staff were able to cater for our group keeping us all close by, we had a large concrete area between our rooms allowing the kids to scoot up and down all day. This area makes a perfect cricket pitch and sticking with good Aussie tradition we were even allowed to use the garbage bins as wickets. The 3 pools allowed the kids to mix it up and move between pools, the children could be seen from most places around the pool area. We had some beautiful sunsets and were able to watch the kids play while we sat out on our decks and enjoyed a drink.

Local Eats

Of all the places we ate I highly recommend Nick’s for Thai it even offers basic kids meals like nuggets and chips to keep the kids quiet while you enjoy the delicious banquets. Albert & Co is also very nice but probably more suited to a quiet meal without kids.

Added Bonuses

The cabin park has teamed up with a lot of the local businesses to offer discounts or vouchers if you are staying at Whiters Big4 so be sure to ask the office staff for any promotions. Lakes Entrance Mini Golf and Trampolines are directly across the road and they offer a discount if you show your room key which we took full advantage of.
