Celebrate the Chinese New Year in Brisbane and you'll be treated to firecrackers, traditional lion dancers, music, displays, and most importantly, food. So. Much. Food. Seeing as it’s a celebration, you have permission to indulge in all the dumplings you like to usher in the prosperous Year Of The Rat.

Lunar New Year Festival, Fortitude Valley

A vibrant mix of traditional Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese dances, cultural performances and hands-on workshops will light up Fortitude Valley's Chinatown Mall Festival, as part of the wider BrisAsia Festival. Get involved in the festivities with lion and dragon dancers, fire shows, traditional music and roving street performers.

The Multicultural Community Centre presents the Technicolour Chinese New Year Night Market to celebrate the most important celebration in the traditional Chinese calendar. Enjoy delicious Asian cuisine, crafts, lion dance and other spectacular activities full of red and gold. Don't miss the opening ceremony at 5pm and colourful cultural shows at 6pm and 7:15pm.

A world of Asian delights awaits with an evening of amazing entertainment and Asian culture to see in the Year of the Rat at the Moreton Bay Region Lunar New Year festival. Traditional performances including orchestral music, magic show, drumming spectacular and more will be on display, while you feast on oriental flavours in Eat Street. You can sample a variety of flavours or simply fill up on your favourite. Take part in workshops and learn some of the intricacies of Asian culture.

Queen Street Mall Lunar New Year

Queen Street Mall Lunar New Year

A celebration of Chinese culture including traditional performances and the popular lion and dragon dances will take place during the Queen Street Mall Lunar New Year festivities. Performers in vibrant costumes with Chinese drums and bamboo poles will be popping up at various times to bring some excitement and spectacle to the city's shopping hub.
