If you think the queues are getting way out of hand at the Grounds of Alexandria, you'll be pleased with the news of a brand new Grounds venue to be built in the heritage-listed Locomotive Workshop in Eveleigh.

Stretch your legs and swing that pram around because this inner west post will be the biggest outlet yet for the Grounds portfolio, covering 814 square metres, enough room for the 200-seater cafe-restaurant they have in the works.

The Grounds Roastery, as it will be called, will no doubt be all about the beans with a full-scale specialty coffee roastery planned and even a research and development lab, and training facilities.

Owner Ramzey Choker says the new site, which is part of the redeveloped Australian Technology Park (not too far for the original Grounds), will be modelled on courtyards and villas throughout Europe and North Africa.

He told Good Food"We're trying to get some skylights in so we can get some more light in there for greenery. It is always my belief that if you're going to do something big you need trees." Simply put, it's going to look stunning and smell amazing!

The Grounds Roastery is set to open in late 2020.
