Toddlers can be tough to plan parties for – they’re big enough to know what’s going on, but not big enough to do lots of the fun stuff yet. Luckily, there are some great venues across Brisbane that cater especially to the little tykes – and take the stress of Mum and Dad too.

Some of our favourites are:

Tumbletastics is a gymnastics school offering fun kids’ parties for kids aged 1 to 8. You can choose from a range of party packages especially for your toddler that can cater for up to 20 children (but smaller parties are good too!). Depending on the age and preferences of your child, the party can be free-play-based, or includegymnastics activities and games tailored to your child, and led by two Tumbletastics teachers.

If you’ve got a group of toddlers and you are keen to completely hand over the reins, Lollipops is what you need. They take care of literally everything: invitations, entertainers, themes, face painting, party hats, party plates, balloons, treasure bags, platters, a visit by Lollipops the Cat, and even the birthday cake. And it’s all in a safe, wrist-banded environment.

Talk to Lollipops about tailoring your party to your child’s preferences and your budget. Kids will have access to all the play equipment, plus the staff will put on age-appropriate games. All you need to do is sit down and watch.

Flipside Circus

Flipside Circus runs fun birthday parties from age two and up – facilitated by professional circus trainers and tailored to the age of the kids, with fun circus games and skills. And at the end of the two-hour party they put on a little circus performance (which would be hilarious with toddlers, don’t you think?).
Flipside don’t provide catering but do give you access to their kitchenette, with a fridge, freezer, microwave and hot water urn.

Brisbane Bayside Steam Railway Society

If you’ve got a train lover, how about a party spent riding on trains at the Bayside Steam Railway Society? They’ve got picnic areas for you to set up your party, and the children can ride trains to their heart’s content. Tip: ensure your guests are wearing covered footwear so they’re allowed on the train.

Website: Brisbane Bayside Steam Railway Society
Where: 1992 Wynnum Road, Wynnum West
When: First and third Sunday of each month, 10am to 12pm and 1:30pm to 3:30pm (flexible)
Cost: $5 per child (minimum of 10 children)

Southbank Parklands

Southbank is a great open space that is kid-friendly and accessible to everyone. You can create your own low-key gathering here around one of the many barbecues, or you can gather on the lawn near the massive playground and bring a picnic. It’s a great budget option because all you have to do is bring your food, and watch the kids play. There are also loads of venues where you can get fish and chips, ice creams, lollies, or even cake. If you’re partying in the warmer months, the kids might enjoy playing in the water features or the lagoon. Finish off the day with a ride in the Brisbane Eye for something dramatic. Tip: if you want an undercover picnic table or barbecue, you might need to get here early to claim your spot.

Trevana Glen Farm

If your toddler is into animals, they will lose their mind over Trevana Glen Farm. Tractor rides are also available. Optional activities include miniature pony decorating, pony rides, face painting, jumping castles, and water activities. And for the parents, you can opt to have the whole shebang fully catered and decorated (including party bags), or you can bring your own food and decorations.
