The My School website has provided a detailed breakdown of the top-performing schools off the back of this year's NAPLAN results, offering a glimpse into the nation's best educational hubs for Year 5 and Year 9 students.
By averaging the scores across all five NAPLAN test subjects (writing, spelling, grammar, reading, and numeracy skills), close to 10,000 schools have been ranked and it's clear that some institutions continue to shine.

NSW NAPLAN Results 2024
NSW schools have maintained their dominance, with James Ruse Agricultural High School securing the top spot for Year 9 students once again, thanks to stellar numeracy results. Hot on their heels, North Sydney Girls High School made a notable impression, achieving second place with a robust reading score contributing to their 722.6 average.
In the primary school rankings, Sydney Grammar School's Edgecliff campus continued its streak at the top, with unmatched performance in numeracy.
A surprise shakeup came from the Conservatorium High School, leaping from 15th to 5th place in 2024—a testament to its academic growth alongside its musical focus.

Presbyterian Ladies' College, last year's top school, slipped slightly from 671.2 to 667 in Year 9 results. Meanwhile, Genazzano FCJ College and St Kevin's College recorded more significant drops of 19.6 and 12.4 points, respectively.
Despite these challenges, Victoria remains a stronghold of academic achievement, with both state and private schools showcasing pockets of brilliance.

Queensland's independent schools continued their impressive streak, representing 70 per cent of the top 50 primary and secondary schools.
Leading the way in the primary rankings was Sunnybank State School, climbing from second place last year to claim the top spot. Ipswich Grammar School and Citipointe Christian College followed closely behind.
For secondary schools, the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Technology was unmatched, holding its title as the top high school for a second year in a row. Brisbane's twin powerhouses, Brisbane Girls Grammar School and Brisbane Grammar School, rounded out the top three.
