If You’re A Fan Of Felines, This Is The Perfect Job For You

In honour of all the times that you and your girlfriends have joked about growing old and becoming cat ladies, we’re here to tell you that you can turn this dream into a reality, and — wait for it — you can do so from the comfort of a GREEK ISLAND.

Yep, you heard right — a tiny Greek Island called Syros, that happens to look a lot like paradise and has a direct view to the Aegean Sea, is on the lookout for a committed cat whisperer that can take care of the 55 cats at God's Little People Cat Rescue Sanctuary.

According to the posting, the ideal candidate is someone age 45 or older with some veterinary nurse training, knowledge of cat psychology and a natural affinity with the animals. It calls for "a mature and genuinely passionate cat lover who knows how to handle many cats and would love their company" to take over running the sanctuary. A nature lover that enjoys spending time in their own company is an ideal fit, as the island is a calm, tranquil haven that offers an abundance of peace and quiet. Sound like you? Read forth!

The Position

It’s a part-time gig, with duties including feeding and medicating the cats and taking them to the vet (using the sanctuary’s car) should they become ill. Around 4 hours of work per day is required, and the successful applicant will be expected to live with a small number of cats in their house (hashtag cat-lady goals).

The job is set to commence on November the 1st and requires an initial six month commitment with a one month trial period to make sure everyone gets along.

The Return

Oh, the return!

Apart from the obvious (y’know the small matter of living on a secluded Greek Island with stunning ocean views and just a short walk to a pristine beach), the part-time position comes with a fully paid, small yet modern semi-detached house with its own garden, plus a salary. Expenses, including food, are covered by the sanctuary. Sound too good to be true? With office views like this, we'd be inclined to believe that it is.

Spoiler: it isn’t! Although you’ll have to get in quick — there have been more than 3000 applicants so far, and the owners of the sanctuary are having to enlist 5 volunteers to help whittle the numbers down.

May the best cat-lover win!
