ellaslist Is Taking The Chop For Charity: Donate To Sam❜s Hair For Heart Variety Campaign

  • All Ages

Sam from ellaslist (AKA Boldy-Locks) has set the challenge to chop off her hair to be made into a custom wig for a person who has lost their hair due to a long-term medical condition such as alopecia, cancer or other rarer conditions too.

To do this we have partnered with Variety – the Children’s Charity, who believe all kids deserve a fair go. They support kids who are sick, disadvantaged and have special needs to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

Sam's Hair With Heart Story

Sam works at ellaslist and was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. She grew up in the Sutherland Shire, and now lives in Sydney's Inner West with her husband and two kids.

A few years ago she heard you could donate your hair for kids who had lost theirs due to illness.

"It sparked my curiosity to find out more and I stumbled across a video of a little girl with Alopecia unboxing a wig that had been gifted to her," says Sam.

"To say she was overjoyed is an understatement. The transformation she expressed as soon as she put that wig on was overwhelming, and having just had my first child, I was (an emotional mess!) overcome by how something so simple for many could make such a positive difference to someone else in need."

"AlI I hope is that my two kids feel a sense of belonging and joy as they grow up. And if by simply cutting my hair I could help someone else's child feel like this... how amazing is that!"

So this November Sam will be chopping off half a metre of her hair and donating it to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need.
