Dunningham Park Playground is Getting a Much-Needed Facelift

  • Mums & Bubs

Is there anything cooler than a playground? A playground by the beach, we say! Dunningham Park Playground is just such a playground, as its nestled right on the foreshore of one of Sydney's most popular and family-friendly beaches.

Dunningham Park Playground is wedged between North Cronulla and South Cronulla beaches and has provided many kids with hours of play in between swimming, surfing, and sand-castle making, so much so that the poor Old Dame is looking a little tired. So it's Sutherland Shire Council to the rescue with plans to spruce up the old chook with a new playground, picnic area, and recreational facilities.

Say goodbye to the old Dunningham Park Playground.

The once colourful playground at Dunningham Park is officially closed as work has commenced for an impressive facelift of one of South Sydney's most-frequented playgrounds.

Updgrades to the Dunningham Park Playground are part of the Sutherland Shire's Playground Renewal Project, which also includes consultation from the Sutherland Shire community. There's also talk of a brand-new restaurant being built within the existing North Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club!

After receiving useful feeback from the community, the Council's plans to rejuvenate Dunningham Park include:

  • A new playground tailored to the Cronulla local environment, featuring a central lifeguard tower with climbing and slides
  • improved range of play equipment catering to a wider range of ages and suited to all abilities
  • larger range of swings
  • softfall material and play area
  • new seating and picnic tables
  • lighting improvements
  • landscaping.
