Brisbane❜s Best Date Nights For Wine Lovers

  • Parents Only

Some say water is the elixir of life; we're of the opinion that wine is the elixir of life. It has health benefits, low calories and feeds the soul. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur, a lover of a chardy or just interested in a night out to enjoy a tipple, Brisbane has you covered. Wine bars can be found all over our fair city, and here are some of our favourites for a romantic date night:

1889 Enoteca, Woolloongabba

The rustic wine experience of 1889 Enoteca begins before you even walk in. Located in Woolloongabba’s antique district, you feel like you’re transported to the streets of Italy. As soon as you enter, the walls are lined with bottles upon bottles of carefully, hand picked wine. An absolute delight for all lovers of grapes.

The owner makes a great effort to source natural wines processed in the traditional way, with little to no technology. The staff is incredibly passionate about wine and are keen to share the passion with you.

The food on offer is sophisticated, traditional Roman fare to keep with the theme. For a truly traditional experience, grab three friends and get involved in the La Famiglia a Tavola “The Family Table”. A four course meal designed to be shared, served in the downstairs cellar. An amazing Italian experience, sans expensive flights.

Cru Bar & Cellar, New Farm

The great thing about Cru Bar & Cellar is the perfect synergy of sophisticated and relaxed ambience. The gorgeous chandelier is a nod to old Hollywood glamour and the huge bay windows allow for incredible people watching.

The staff are as knowledgeable as they are friendly, ensuring lovers of all things wine, have a truly amazing experience.

With an impressive wine list boasting over 650 different wines and over 4,000 bottles in the cellar, you can bet they have something to suit every pallette. They are renowned for their champagne selection and don't we all enjoy a glass of something bubbly! What I love the most about Cru Bar though is the offer of so many wines and champagnes by the glass. This is a great way to explore different flavours and types of wine.

Mr & Mrs G Riverbar, Brisbane

Undoubtedly, the first thing you notice about entering this magnificent venue is the view. Exceptional river views that will make you fall in love with our city all over again and make you realise how lucky we are to live here.

Situated smack bang on Brisbane River, looking out on the Story Bridge, it’s a great place to escape the noise. The expansive wine selection hails from all over the world, carefully curated and ever changing.

Whilst the menu may be simple and takes a back seat to the wine (as it should), it doesn’t take away from the quality. The tapas menu is delectable and perfectly compliments your wine.

La Lune Wine Co, South Brisbane

What is not to love about a venue that keeps their food menu to one page but allows their wine list to flow over five pages (and features over 120 wines)?! Plus, all the food at La Lune Wine Co is designed to pair with a wine, not the other way around. This is a place that takes their wine seriously.

The huge wine selection and gorgeous food is served in bar that was designed to create an urban, stylish environment, perfect for a catch up or romantic evening.

The intimate venue is located in Fish Lane, one of Brisbane's coolest locates and offers the perfect amount of style and atmosphere.

Greenglass, Brisbane

Greenglass is the chameleon of venues. Ever changing depending on the time of day. In the morning, enjoy French inspired pastries and coffees, lunch of an afternoon; a Michelin starred chef prepares dinner in the evening and snacks are served in the late hours of the night.

Located in the heart of the CBD, you enter through an unassuming, dark corridor, to a minimalist setting with raised ceilings. Large tables offer a dining hall type experience, offering exceptional food at incredibly reasonable prices.

The exposed walls show off a gallery of rare wines, you will be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the city. From the guys that brought you Happy Boy, this French inspired venue is sure to impress even the fussiest of wine drinkers, without breaking the bank.

Local Larder, Ashgrove

Suburbanites delight. Ashgrove has offered up a minimalist wine bar with a hugely impressive wine list. The huge menu of carefully curated wine, offers a detailed description of the boutique selection and it’s always changing.

By day, the Larder serves amazing coffee; as night approaches the fun begins as the wine flows. Local produce is displayed on shelves lining the walls and it’s all available for purchase to take home.

While the food menu is a bit light on, the cheese and charcuterie selection is glorious. Let’s be honest, all you need is cheese and wine.
