Shrove Tuesday - aka Pancake Day - is coming up, which is the excuse we’re parlaying into a day out eating dessert for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Honestly, when it comes to pancakes, you really can make them into any meal at all and we are there for all of it.

Whether you’re into thin crepes with a savoury filling or fluffy buttermilk jobbies slathered in ice cream, we’ve got something for you here. But don’t make them yourself – there are plenty of fun venues around Brisbane that are making exceptional pancakes so all you have to do is constrain yourself long enough to share them on your Insta-feed then tuck in!

The Jam Pantry

The Jam Pantry is a southside favourite with a range of fancy-pants options that change with the seasons. Recent highlights include lemon thyme batter, strawberry and apple jam, nutmeg crème and oat crumble. Or how about sourdough and lemon zest batter with mango, sweet pickled watermelon and peach and strawberry dollop? There are even gluten-free options like polenta sourdough batter, pearl mango, dragonfruit, raspberries micro mint and pumpkin coconut ripple. For real – get yourself here asap.

Where: 2/575 Logan Road, Greenslopes

Little Clive

Did somebody say “all-day brunch”? Little Clive is perfect for when you’ve got that pancake hankering at any time of the day. The menu changes seasonally but think creations like maple bacon pancakes with fairy floss and popcorn or vanilla pancakes with pickled rhubarb, strawberry maple, almonds and chinotto jelly. Think food coma happiness!

Where: Shop 8, 461 Ipswich Road, Annerley

The Pancake Manor

The Pancake Manor Brisbane

An oldie but a goodie, The Pancake Manor has been serving up fun pancake treats – both sweet and savoury – since us parents were wee tackers. And they’re still magnificent. They’ve got a zillion different variations on the simple pancake – plus they cater for gluten-free and vegan requirements.

Where: 18 Charlotte Street, Brisbane CBD and Garden City Town Square, Upper Mount Gravatt

Pancakes On The Rocks

Okay, this one isn’t in Brisbane, but Pancakes On The Rocks is directly across the beach at Surfers Paradise, and we reckon that combo is worth a delightful half-day trip. Plus the kids can get fun themed pancakes such as a butterfly, funny face, or Alice in Wonderland.

Where: 4 The Esplanade, Shop T1.31, Surfers Paradise
