6 Family-Friendly Activities On The Gold Coast

    All Ages

It’s only an hour down the road, but when is the last time you took the family to check out all the fun of the Gold Coast? So much more than just pretty beaches (although they’re pretty great!), there’s something for everyone.

Learn to surf

Always wanted to but never quite got around to it? Take the family and learn to surf in a 2-hour lesson for beginners. Lessons run every day across locations at Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Kirra.

Go on a 4WD hinterland tour

Check out all that the Gold Coast has to offer, visiting sub-tropical rainforests, Lamington National Park, Springbrook National Park, and Tamborine Mountain. You and the kids can try fun activities such as whip cracking, boomerang throwing, wine tasting (maybe not the kids for that one!) glow worm tours and more.

Go whale watching

This is the tour to do if you really want to see whales – they boast a 100% daily sightings record, which means you either see a whale, or you get a free return cruise. Leaving from the heart of Surfers Paradise, Whales in Paradise will take you out on their porpoise-built (#sorrynotsorry) boat offering uncrowded whale watching from their viewing deck.

Try an Aquaduck Safari

Explore the Gold Coast waterways and famous landmarks in an amphibious Aquaduck! And to make it even more fun, kids get to drive the duck and obtain their Captain Aquaduck licence.

The one-hour tour is the best family-friendly river and city cruise on the coast, so get quacking!

Spend the day at Seaworld

Seaworld is a stalwart of the Gold Coast, and it’s bigger and better than ever! Take in a seal or dolphin show, watch the incredible skiing stunt show, watch the penguins frolic underwater, or take the kids on a range of rides from the rollercoasters to Nickelodeon world for the littlies. You can easily spend a day at Seaworld and never be bored for a minute. It’s Australia’s number 1 marine park with good reason!

Walk to Natural Bridge in Springbrook National Park

Natural Bridge is a stunning piece of nature within Springbrook National Park, just a 1km walk from the Nerang-Murwillumbah Road carpark. It’s part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. The picturesque rock formation was formed by the force of the waterfall over the basalt cave and is nothing short of spectacular.

During the day you might spot paradise riflebirds, green catbirds, wompoo fruit-doves and also rare and threatened species like the cascade tree frog, tusked frog, sooty owl and koala. On guided night tours you might see the resident colony of protected glow-worms and microbats and, in summer, luminous fungi and fireflies
