Things to do at Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden
Situated in St Ives, the 123 hectares of urban bushland are a great spot for bush walking, picnicking and special events. The Garden itself features heathland, tall forest, sandstone outcrops, ponds, gullies and waterfalls.
Pop Into the Visitor Centre
Before you hit the trails, swing by the Visitor Centre, where you'll find trail maps, nature displays and sometimes even small-animal exhibits (with frogs, reptiles and insects).
There's also a native plant nursery on site if you're feeling inspired to bring a little bushland back to your own backyard!
Hit the Bushwalking Trail
The garden has six walking tracks, ranging from short, family-friendly loops to longer hikes that dip into gullies and sandstone valleys.
Senses Track: A short paved loop near the Visitor Centre that's ideal for kids, prams and wheelchairs.
Banks Track: A scenic boardwalk through wetlands where you can spot frogs, turtles and birds.
Mueller Track: A longer bushwalk if you’re up for a proper nature adventure.
Keep your eyes peeled while you wander — wallabies, lizards and plenty of birdlife call this place home.
Picnic in the Bush
If you're packing snacks (or a full picnic spread), there are plenty of picnic areas, BBQs and shady tables dotted throughout the garden.
Lambert's Clearing is one of the best spots to spread out a picnic rug and play in the playground, while the surrounding bushland makes it feel miles away from the suburbs.
Spot Native Wildflowers
Every plant in the garden is an Australian native, with hundreds of species flowering throughout the year, including several rare and threatened varieties.
Spring is peak bloom season, but there's usually something colourful popping up along the trails no matter when you visit.
