Early Start Discovery Space at The University of Wollongong

With more than 14 interactive experiences to explore, Early Start Discovery Space is the ultimate learn-through-play centre for children (birth -10 years) and adults to enjoy together.

Located on the University of Wollongong’s main campus, the Discovery Space is open from 9am – 4pm Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays and Public Holidays.

About the experiences
You’ll be able to explore a giant stomach, design and construct a house, dig for fossils, create some art, be a train conductor, act on stage, sail a ship, crawl through a cave, play with water, make a stop-motion LEGO™ movie and so much more. View a full list of the experiences

In addition to the experiences, the Early Start Discovery Space has a rolling program of workshops and activities including Storytime and CreARTivity (guided art and craft sessions), throughout each day, with something new happening every half hour from 9.30am – 3pm. Visit their Events Page

Backed by research
Early Start Discovery Space experiences have been designed by University of Wollongong educators and researchers to inspire meaningful play and enhance the value that children gain through play-based experiences. 

Birthday parties
Colourful party rooms are available for children’s birthday parties from Tuesday to Sunday, with two time slots to choose from. 10am – 12pm or 1pm – 3pm. To make a booking, please contact the Early Start Discovery Space Party Coordinator on 02 4221 3777, or visit their Party Page.

Creative Kids Voucher

The NSW Government is helping kids get creative with the new Creative Kids program. Parents, guardians and carers can apply for a voucher with a value of up to $100 per calendar year for each student aged 4.5 to 18 years old enrolled in school, to put towards the cost of creative activities with registered providers. This now includes Early Start Discovery Space memberships and selected workshops!

Using your $100 voucher towards a 12-month ‘Discover for 2’ membership (1 Child + 1 Adult) brings the price down to $0!
