Crooked Characters Tour

Get to know the charlatans, rogues, thieves and cut-throats that once populated Cockatoo Island, with their FREE Crooked Characters Tour. This hour-long guided tour takes families on a hilarious and fascinating journey through the island’s colonial and recent history.

Convict Precinct Tour

Discover Cockatoo Island's UNESCO World Heritage listed Convict Precinct with their 45-minute tour of the upper plateau. You will be lead through the layered history of the island's former penal establishment, stopping at iconic landmarks including the Mess Hall, Barracks, Guardhouse, Military Officers Quarters and Solitary Confinement Cells.

Steam Crane Demonstrations - No.2 Travelling steam crane & Mort Dock steam crane

Installed on Cockatoo Island during the early 1900s, the No. 2 Travelling Steam Crane is amongst the oldest surviving examples of its kind in Australia. The oldest steam crane on Cockatoo Island, the Mort’s Dock steam crane has a jib 9.5m long, and its original lifting capacity was 25 tons. Book in for one of Cockatoo Island's vintage steam crane demonstrations! Where:     Fitzroy Dock, Cockatoo Island
