The YIRRAMBOI First Nations Arts Festival is a ten-day feast of arts and culture bringing together creative visionaries from across the globe.
Every two years, the vibrant festival takes over Melbourne with an exciting program of extraordinary events across music, dance, theatre, film, exhibitions, markets, talks and more. Meaning ‘tomorrow’ in the shared local languages of the Boonwurrung and Woiwurrung peoples, YIRRAMBOI presents a dynamic, future-focused celebration of the longest living culture in the world.
The YIRRAMBOI opening night celebration will bring together an all-star line-up of performances by spectacular Indigenous creatives at 6:30pm on Thursday 6th May at the Malthouse Theatre outdoor stage.
On Saturday 8th May, an all-day celebration of Blak culture will descend on the CBD for BARRING YANABUL, with 40 pop-up acts showcasing their creative talents in iconic public spaces and laneways.
On Sunday 9th May, the Blak Makers Markets will feature fashion designers, jewellery makers, craftspeople and bush food all from proud Blak makers.
There is also a diverse schedule of family-friendly entertainment including Blak Drag Storytime, a theatrical performance of Crumbs, Deadly Narratives mixed-media exhibition and an outback adventure with Nana Magic, Tilly and Friends.
