Join ArtPlay's New Ideas Lab and become collaborators on this multicultural show for babies!
ArtPlay’s New Ideas Lab supports artists and children to work together to develop new arts experiences and Obang is headed up by Artists Youbi Lee and Yee Wen Soo.
Obang is a performative installation space designed for babies and their caregivers. This project is inspired by the traditional Korean belief Obang, or "home". In this work Obang refers to five primary colours and explores the spatial meaning of home. This traditional concept is adapted into a contemporary interactive project.
In these ‘Dreaming’ workshops, you are invited to a Korean grandmother’s home. She will introduce a space for each day - you may enter nana’s kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, toilet or living room. She may teach you how to cook, wash nappies, sing a lullaby or pass around some traditional toys for you to play with.
