No trip to IKEA is complete without arguing with your other half and then making up over meatballs, right? To celebrate National Meatball Day on Monday 9 March, IKEA Springvale is hosting a range of fun activities and exclusive offers over the Labour Day Long Weekend.

The iconic meatball has a long history within IKEA, celebrating its 35th year in the IKEA Food range this year. In 1985, IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad and Swedish chef Severin Sjöstedt set themselves the challenge of creating the perfect meatball recipe. Even within Sweden, opinions vary greatly on how a meatball should taste. Over the course of 10 months, the recipe was refined to reflect a meatball for all of Sweden – bringing together the differing views of the north and south.

Now the IKEA meatball family includes 3 variations on the classic dish including the veggie ball, the chicken ball and the new plant-based ball.

Join IKEA for a weekend full of fun activities including free kids crafts and IKEA Family workshops as well as live cooking demonstrations and Swedish food tastings.
