  • Free!

Explore connections between the environment, the human condition, and how people live in modern cities on AR.Trail - one of the largest FREE augmented reality (AR) exhibitions Australia has ever seen.

Digital works by leading contemporary artists will be exhibited across 22 sites from Monday, 22 to Friday, 30 September. Explore AR artwork with your smartphone on a self-guided exploration of one of our favourite cities.

On the AR trail, you can check out notable works like the first-ever AR presentation of Reko Rennie’s OA Warrior I (pink), viewable outside Koorie Heritage Trust.

The OA Warrior I (pink) brought to life through AR

Recognised as an iconic work in the NGV Collection, the work represents the strength and power of a Kamilaroi warrior through vibrantly colourful neon pink lines. To see it appear right in front of you through the magic of AR is truly something special. This is a unique way to experience art that the whole family can enjoy.

In addition to the works around Melbourne, The NGV has two venues featuring digital artworks by leading Australian and international artists, including pieces by KAWS, Marco Brambilla and David Shrigley, in gallery spaces in NGV International.

The AR app is a great way to bring new people into the art world and have fun spotting the artwork together. All you need to do to experience AR.Trail is download the Acute Art app, available for free via the App Store and Google Play.
