Best Spots to Catch New Year❜s Eve Fireworks in Melbourne 2021

  • Family

Grab your picnic rug, stock up on goodies and stake out your spot for a fireworks extravaganza this New Year's Eve - Melbourne never disappoints!

Melbourne New Year's Eve 2021

Plenty of parties and festivities go down across the city, and you'd find it pretty easy to get to a place to see the spectacular light shows. Melbourne New Year's Eve 2021 is set to be bigger and better than previous years, with the city hosting Australia's largest drone show to ring in the New Year at the Docklands Celebration Zone!

If you're headed into any of the city locations to catch the 2021 fireworks, it's always best to go early and secure a good spot, so even if you can't go yourself (or think the kids will last that long!) send someone on ahead for a recon. It'll be a great night!

City of Melbourne Fireworks Celebration Zones

The official City of Melbourne Fireworks Celebration Zones for the midnight fireworks are at Treasury Gardens, Flagstaff Gardens, Docklands, and Kings Domain (near the Sidney Myer Music Bowl), all with entertainment.

For earlier fireworks (helpful for families!) there are Fireworks Celebration Zones in Yarra Park and Footscray Park with 9.30 pm displays. These are alcohol-free events.

Quite a few spots will have their own light show, so check with your local council - but anywhere you can get a clear view of the city skyline, you'll be treated to the main event. The midnight fireworks are designed to be viewed from afar so find your own location anywhere in the greater Melbourne area, have a party on a rooftop or convince your cousin in the tall apartment block to let you up for the show! For the full surround sound experience, listen to the official synchronised soundtrack live on FM99.7 or through SoundCloud (available 31 December).
