The Best Last-Minute Easter Escapes Around Brisbane for 2019

  • Family

Regardless of its late arrival this year, Easter has still managed to sneak up on us all, like always. With more public holidays than we can even count, April is one of the most popular months for travel. If you are worried that you may be the only one without Easter holiday plans - don’t stress! You’re not alone and we are here to help. We have compiled the five best escapes for you and your family this Easter!

Tangalooma Island Resort - QLD

What better way to enjoy the Easter holidays than by basking in the Queensland sun. With a vast array of signature experiences such as quad bikes, parasailing, 4WD tours, sand tobogganing, kayaking and snorkelling – Tangalooma is the perfect overnight or daytrip escape, located a short 75-minute scenic ferry ride from Brisbane. Start your getaway with one of the resort’s Eco-Ranger run tours allowing you to get up close and personal with the abundance of marine and bird life that call Tangalooma home. Next, scale the picturesque sand dunes of the Tangalooma Desert, before boarding your sand toboggan for a heart racing high-speed slide down the dunes. For those hooked on adrenaline, you can also jump aboard a quad bike for an exhilarating exploration through Australia’s largest (and most beautiful) network of dedicated quad bike tracks. Then as the sun sets over the water to the west, watch as Tangalooma’s resident pod of wild dolphins arrive for their nightly feed. Resort guests have the opportunity to hand-feed these wild dolphins each evening off the beach at dusk. The perfect end, to the perfect Easter escape!

The Glasshouse Mountains – QLD

If you’re not averse to spending the day outdoors in the rainforest, then the Glass House Mountains might just be the Easter escape you have been looking for! Located just a one hour drive from Brisbane, there is a variety of accommodation options available that allow you to soak up the breathtaking views. There are plenty of hiking and walking trails on offer that immerse you in the forest before opening up to lookouts that boast panoramic views of the mountains. If hiking is not your cup of tea but you still love to get your blood pumping – there are plenty of great spots for rock climbing and abseiling. Love the scenery but hate the effort? Thankfully, you can also drive through the Glass House Mountains National Park and stop at the lookouts located along the way. What a great spot for a picnic with the family!

Coolum Beach – QLD

Who doesn’t love a game of beach cricket? Coolum Beach is a good option for families located just over an hour from Brisbane by car. If you are anything like us, we cannot pass up an opportunity to be basking in the sun all day on the hot sand. Keep the kids occupied at the Coolum Beach Surf School while you head up the beach for a bite to eat. If you are closeted surfer, not to worry, the Coolum Beach Surf School can accommodate the whole family in their beginner classes from 10am every day. The best part is all the equipment for surfing is provided for so you don’t have to go dragging your old surf board out!
