Ikea Raises Their Innovation A Wee Bit

Do you remember that amazing moment when you realised the little stick you were holding meant your entire life was about to change? Perhaps you felt overwhelming excitement and joy, for others it may be injected a sense of fear and bewilderment…..well, here’s another item that will evoke the same response.
IKEA’s Swedish ad agency, Åkestam Holst, have created a magazine ad that encourages women to wee on it. Yes, you just read that last sentence correctly; the ad copy reads “Peeing on this ad may change your life”. You see, if you are actually pregnant, the special test strip on the ad will reveal the discounted cot price, which appears to be roughly 50% off or as IKEA calls it “the IKEA Family price”.
“This ad is also a pregnancy test. Pee on the marked area and wait a moment. If you are expecting, you will get a surprise right here in the ad” (as if weeing on a magazine ad isn’t surprising enough?!)
God knows how expensive having babies are, so maybe this might actually be a worthwhile thing? It’s certainly not my cup of pee, ops I mean tea but you can’t deny it’s very innovative.
A bit like creating a baby really.
Unfortunately this wonderful promotion is not running in Australian IKEA stores.... yet.
