Head down to Federation Square this May and celebrate the birth of Buddha and the diversity of the multicultural and multi-faith society in which we live at the Buddha's Day and Multicultural Festival. The curated program offers a range of inspiring events for the whole family to discover and enjoy.

Mark your calendars for one of Victoria's coolest festivals! Federation Square will be buzzing with excitement as Melbourne celebrates Buddha's Day with a three-day extravaganza embracing different cultures through awesome arts, music, and performances.

On Friday at 7 pm, the event kicks off with the epic Light It Up Opening Ceremony featuring jaw-dropping performances from the Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne, National Boys Choir, and Taiko Drumming. Plus, you'll get to experience a traditional Buddhist Ceremony.

A spectacular multi-media Fireworks Show will light up the sky on Friday and Saturday nights, making Federation Square shine brighter than ever!

Throughout the weekend, you can dive into cultural ceremonies, meditations, and workshops. Try a Buddhist Ch’an Meditation at the Mindfulness Forest or head over to the Lotus Flower Sanctuary and Lumbini Garden for a tranquil experience that'll soothe your soul.

There are a ton of fun activities lined up for families with kids at the Children’s Corner. Learn the art of Lion & Dragon Dancing, giggle along with a Puppet Show, or transform into your favourite character with face painting. Plus, the Giant Bubbles are going to be HUGE!

The Federation Square Main Stage will host electrifying Multicultural performances and dance workshops, from the City of Melbourne Highland Pipe Band to Jhoom Bollywood - there will be something for everyone to groove to.
