Whether you're a snow-loving family or not, we're sure you'll agree that this $9 million investment is incredibly exciting for those who are passionate about all things snow and offers yet another enticement to get visitors soaking up all that Thredbo has to offer throughout the year.

Spanning an impressive 1.5km, the Thredbo Alpine Coaster promises an exhilarating experience for all, allowing riders to control their speed up to 40km/h as they navigate through a diverse terrain of uphill climbs, downhill descents, tunnels, bridges, and loops that weave through the breathtaking alpine landscape.

The ride is currently being constructed in Europe, and once installed it will be approximately one minute in duration down and a three-minute ride uphill to the start. Phew!

The Grander Plan

General Manager of Thredbo, Scott Diver, has highlighted that the Alpine Coaster marks just the beginning of an exciting expansion plan for Thredbo Resort. This ambitious vision includes the installation of two zip lines, upgrading the Snowgums double-seat chairlift to a six-seat model, and renovating the Merritts Mountain House restaurant.

These new additions are set to elevate Thredbo's status as a premier year-round adventure destination, complementing its existing offerings such as winter snow activities, summer mountain biking, hiking, and fishing.

"If we're really going to truly expand this year-round, especially the summer market, then we need to be providing other adventures. Most resorts in the world with an eye on the future are looking at these types of installations."

Looks like the impending Aussie snow season (and beyond!) just got even more exciting!
