The McIlwaine Park Foreshore Upgrade Includes a Beach!

The incredible $8.7 million facelift of McIlwaine Park Foreshore is officially a wrap! With the support of the NSW Government in partnership with the City of Canada Bay, this riverside park has undergone a seriously remarkable glow-up with some surprising inclusions that promise incredible value and outdoor lifestyle options to both residents of Canada Bay and its visitors. 

The New McIlwaine Park Foreshore Includes a Beach & Rock Pool!

Yep, you read that right—a rock pool. A rock pool! There really is so much to enjoy at the new McIlwaine Park Foreshore.

The project aimed to utilise the area's epic location on the Parramatta River and increase access to local water activities and aquatic recreation options, as well as improve access to, and through, McIlwaine Park itself. We're positively fizzing with excitement at the new splash-tastic additions to the Foreshore! 

What to Expect at the New McIlwaine Park Foreshore

In our book, the real highlights of the McIlwaine Park Foreshore upgrade are the state-of-the-art and eco-conscious seawall along with natural rock pools that promote biodiversity, as well as a beach area and enhanced facilities that cater to water activities like kayaking, rowing, and stand-up paddleboarding. It really is the perfect addition to the area as the hot weather hits! 

There's also a brand-new accessible pathway that meanders along the river's edge, pedestrian-friendly lighting to enhance safety, the addition of accessible barbecue stations and picnic facilities, plus an abundance of thoughtful native landscaping—including the planting of 22 fresh trees. 

While swimming is not currently permitted, plans are underway to make it swim-friendly in the near future - fingers crossed! In the meantime, McIlwaine Park Foreshore is an outdoor oasis that's just begging to be explored by Sydney families, so enjoy!

McIlwaine Park Foreshore Grand Opening

Calendars at the ready! McIlwaine Park Foreshore will be hosting a Grand Opening on Saturday 18 November 2023, from 10 am to 1 pm. There will be a free barbecue, live music, kids' entertainment, and a sealife workshop—promising plenty of fun for the whole family. Don't forget your swimmers for a splash in those rock pools!
