Tamworth Country Music Festival: Celebrate 50 Years of Country Music in 2022

Get ready to kick up your boot-scootin' heels Australia! The nation’s biggest and longest-running music festival is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary - and it’s going to be huge.

Celebrate 50 Years of Country Music in Tamworth

The iconic annual Tamworth Country Music Festival is set to descend on the northeast New South Wales town for 10 electrifying days from Friday 14 January to Sunday 23 January 2022. Rated one of the top 10 music festivals in the world and attracting tens of thousands of visitors, the premier event will deliver a diverse line-up of musical talent with thousands of free and ticketed gigs and hundreds of performers across dozens of venues. Yee-hah!

The region will come alive with artists and events including contemporary concerts, extraordinary collaborations and tribute performances, and hundreds of buskers along Peel Street delivering soulful tunes to entertain the revellers every day.

The epic historical celebration in Australia’s home of country music will be full of unique activations befitting the golden milestone. A celebratory five-CD album and commemorative book, plus commemorative medallions, souvenirs and merchandise, are all in the pipeline, as well as a 50th-anniversary fifty-cent coin! You can also expect a gallery exhibition, more bronze figures and plaques, a massive headline act showcasing the best songs from the last 50 years and a host of special surprises.

Some of Australian country music's biggest names and brightest emerging talent will be joining the extravaganza, and a who’s who of Australian country music will also come together to salute their peers at the pinnacle event of the festival - The Toyota Golden Guitars Country Music Awards of Australia on Saturday 22 January.

• A dedicated Family Zone bursting with carnival fun and loads of rides for kids of all ages including a Ferris wheel, jumping castle, dodgem cars and giant slides
• Adventure down Peel Street to soak up the amazing atmosphere and cheer on the vibrant buskers and talented street performers
• Relax on the grass with an amazing line-up of free concerts across three outdoor stages
• The Festival Fringe will be a hive of colourful activity including fire performers, unicyclists, comedians, contortionists, circus acts and more
• Snap a selfie of Tamworth’s own ‘big thing’ - the Big Golden Guitar at the Tamworth Visitor Information Centre
• Tamworth’s series of talent quests will be on show at Coca-Cola Country in the infamous Tamworth Town Hall
• Watch the floats drive down Peel Street in the Toyota Country Music Cavalcade as part of the bittersweet finale

What else will kids love in Tamworth?

• The award-winning Tamworth Regional Playground has a ‘Skywalk’, three giant slides, four towers, a bike track, a 3D climbing adventure, slides and a splash park, plus free picnic and BBQ areas
• Tamworth boasts one of the best skate parks in the region. The Tamworth Regional Skate Park at the northern end of Peel Street is a unique, state-of-the-art facility open to everyone.
• The free Tamworth Marsupial Park & Adventure Playground is home to some exotic residents including kangaroos, wallabies, peacocks and emus plus there is a free-flight aviary and a fully enclosed adventure playground.

The Tamworth Country Music Festival will literally take over the town! General admission is free and the event is not gated so everyone is welcome to attend - no tickets are required.
