If the closest your little city slicker has been to a farm is a petting zoo at one of Sydney’s urban markets or fairs, then a visit to family-friendly Calmsley Hill City Farm is an absolute must.

What To Do

Located in Abbotsbury, 40 minutes out of Sydney, Calmsley Hill City Farm is a place where the whole family can get up close to a range of native and farmyard animals – everything from koalas and kangaroos to baby lambs and kids.

Calmsley Hill City Farm has a daily schedule of fun, fascinating shows and demonstrations including sheep shearing, cow milking and a stock whip show to keep you and the littlies entertained. There are also tractor rides!

The farm also offers unique and really low-cost kids birthday party packages and overnight camping and farm stay options for your family – or get a group of friends together and make a night of it! Includes barbeque dinner and breakfast, and you can even collect your own chook eggs.

The Grounds

Located on over 400 acres, there is plenty of space for kids to run free in the beautiful grounds. This is a rare and wonderful opportunity for children to get a taste of life on a farm without having to travel for hours to get there.

ellaslist opinion: A 40-minute car drive takes you a million miles away from Sydney city’s hustle and bustle. This is both an educational and really fun family outing that caters to toddlers, preschoolers, older children and grown-ups alike.  It’s a great lesson for the kids to discover that eggs and milk don’t just come from the supermarket shelves and there are loads of interesting shows and demonstrations all day long.
