The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) has lots of exciting School Holiday programs on offer for Contemporary Kids this Winter!

Check out the following workshops that are sure to inspire your kids:

4 Seasons
WHEN: Drop in - Tue 30 Jun – Sat 4 Jul, 10.30am – 4pm
AGES: 4+
COST: The MCA welcomes a $5 donation per family
Pack your gumboots and sun hat and prepare for 4 seasons in one day as we get inspired by Haines and Hinterding and transform the Creative Studios into a wacky and wonderful weather phenomenon! Pick a season out of our sorting hat and get hands on as you contribute to a collaborative installation that pushes the meteorological boundaries to the extreme!

Time to get arty this winter and discover the dazzling world of light. Light Lab is a free family activity space open in the National Centre for Creative Learning Spaces across the foyer from Light Show. Light Lab is not an exhibition but an activity space designed for children to creatively explore and play with the properties of light.

Colour Mixing With Province
WHEN: 7 Jul, 10.30am & 1.30pm
AGES: 5-8 & 9-13 *Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult
COST: From $35/30 members and concessions (All materials included)
Join Artists Louise Pike and Anne-Louise Dadak of design studio Province as they introduce Participants to the basics of colour and geometry. Learn how to mix colours and create patterns from simple geometric shapes and work towards the creation of an original abstract canvas to take home.

Super Sonic
WHEN: 6 & 8 Jul, 10am-4.00pm
AGES: 8-12
COST:$115/100 members and concessions (All materials and meals included)
Join artist Emily Morandini as she introduces participants to ideas of sound, radio, and environmental energies in this all day workshop for junior Art Enthusiasts. Visit the MCA exhibition Energies: David Haines & Joyce Hinterding and experience an array of sights, sounds, smells, and invisible forces. Back in the Creative Studios we will explore the sounds of the environment by making our own antennas, as well as create an AV installation inspired by the invisible energies of the cosmos.

T Shirts with Kenzie
WHEN: 9 Jul, 10.30 & 1.30pm
AGES5-8 & 9-13 *Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult
COSTFrom $115/100 members and concessions (All materials and meals included)
Have fun with wearable art in this fun, practical workshop by Melbourne based artist Kenzie Larsen. Students will be guided through a process of experimental drawing and composition to create unique hand drawn T-shirt.
