Ride a billycart down the historic Old Windsor Road, jump on a mini train, or test your skills with old fashioned games on the farm lawns – fly a kite, play with quoits, participate in sack races, try your hand at rolling hoops or enjoy a game of croquet.
Learn how to make your own billycart at one of the demonstration workshops, get hands on with craft making for all ages or join acclaimed children’s author Ursula Dubosarsky for storytelling sessions in the Stables. Ursula will be reading from her book Abyssinia, a story set in a doll’s house and inspired by the children that once lived at Rouse Hill House and Farm.
Chat to the incredible toy collectors from the Sydney Model Auto Club and the Australian Pedal Car Society as they showcase their unique collections of vintage pedal cars, depression era toys and Corgi, Dinky andMatchbox cars before browsing the market stalls packed full of beautiful handmade toys, children’s craft and clothing and other artisan gifts.
Marvel at the dexterity of our roving performers, Ms Absinthe on her stilts and Mr Farthing on his penny farthing bicycle and enjoy live music from The Lollipops Brass Trio. Have a look inside the fascinating Rouse Hill House and find out about the family and children who lived there, plus discover the many farm animals that roam the property.
Pack a picnic and bring the family along for this wonderful Toy Festival!
