Need a destination for your choo-choo loving children? We have the perfect idea for you: the Thirlmere Festival of Steam on Saturday and Sunday 4-5 March 2017!
A 2-day event, this is a must-see for any Thomas or train loving little ones out there. It’s a perfect 1 hour and 15-minute drive south of Sydney, and with heaps of large steam trains in one place, there are opportunities to climb aboard, shovel coal, and learn all about these magnificent engines with an old magic feel about them.
This nostalgic event is complete with country fair fun- markets, music, rides and old relics. Two steam locomotives will be operating and you can enjoy a 50-minute steam train ride along the original Thirlmere Heritage Railway to Buxton or Picton. There’s also amusement rides, an animal farm, zorb balls and segways.
Where: Trainworks, 10 Barbour Rd, Thirlmere
When: 4-5 March 2017; 9.30am-6pm
Cost: Children can enter Trainworks for just $10 and adults for $15, with steam train rides for the same price. Dual entry and steam ride tickets offer great value, coming down to just $15 for kids and $25 for adults!
