Celebrate Science Week with a huge program of interactive, educational family activities!

The Sydney Science Festival this August 2017 is an exciting opportunity for kids and families to experience and learn from the best that science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) has to offer!

There are five main goals of this year's festival:

  • Motivate and inspire young Sydneysiders to study and practice science
  • Increase appreciation and recognition of science in Sydney
  • Create an engaged and involved city
  • Stimulate collaboration and partnerships
  • Support creativity and excellence in science engagement

This year's program includes a heap of family-friendly activities, including:

Super Science Saturday: an extraordinary day out for the entire family when the Australian Museum opens its doors and brings science to life for everyone! With live animal shows, face-painting, hands-on experiments and lectures, there are events and programs that will appeal to the littlies, teenagers and parents. 12 August

The Indigenous Science Experience Family Fun Day: Yarn with Elders on bush foods and medicines at the Redfern Community Centre, make Aboriginal tools and jewellery, discover the science of ochre, take part in hands-on science shows led by Indigenous youth, solve maths puzzles, try out robotic activities, plus enjoy lots of other science and technology activities. 20 August
